Satire

Satire uses humor, humiliation or their weakness with the hope of change or of correcting bad behavior or weakness.

In The the impotence of proofreading By Tailor Mali " this young men is a very poor speller. He explains how this happens to plenty of children and compares it to when he was in school. His teacherr would tell him that he wouldn't get anywhere in life or wont end up in a good college. One day he brought a spell checker and it still didn't help because he didn't know how to spell. If he misspelled a word for he wasn't able to put the word back in place. His advice was to be careful and edit and when doing spell check. He tries to be funny and criticize in a nice but funny way.
For Example he wrote this: Has this ever happened to you? You work very horde on a paper for English clash And then get a very glow raid (like a D or even a D=) and all because you are the word¹s liverwurst spoiler. Proofreading your peppers is a matter of the the utmost impotence.
What he Really Meant was :

*- In the article "Pediatricians Announce 2011 Newborns Are Ugliest Babies In 30 Years"
the author is trying to be funny he says that the predication published an article stating that 2011 Babies are the most ugliest things they seen in years. Dr. Marion Burton said. "They have the stubbiest ears, the creepiest little toes " hes trying to be funny in not a good way because Babbie's are usually the most prettiest things ever. yes there little but there not creepy.

*- In The Storyteller (Saki) by H. H. Munro (Saki) (1870-1916) the storyteller suppose to be telling a Good story but instead there telling a bad story and making front of what a good story's suppose to be about.
*- In the article "Us Quietly Slips Out of Afghanistan in Dead of Night". The author is criticizing how the United States just goes to another country and mess with the people and then leave like nothing happened. the author is showing how selfish is United States. The author is trying to embarrass the U.S to see if they think before making discussions and making actions.


In this cartoon its a form of satire because it uses a lot of humour. as you can see both man look bored and no satisfied but in the quote bubble's as you can she they saying they love the country and its not cheap & his friends states he hope it states poor. But in the background of the picture its dead no ones there such little stores and as you can see there face expression.
In Conclusion satire has the emotions of serious presentations upon the audience as a result of its general. Satire also shows many different things and examples of satire it also affects us in many ways.

Irony

Irony is the use of words to express something different from and often opposite to their literal meaning. the three different types of irony are:
Socratic, Verbal, Dramatic, Tragic, Situational, Cosmic, and Historical. I Verbal irony (also called sarcasm) - which is when a writer makes a statement in which the actual meaning differs from the meaning that the words appear to express.Situational irony - accidental events occur that seem oddly appropriate, such as the poetic justice of a TV weather presenter getting caught in a surprise rainstorm.Dramatic irony- a narrative in which the reader knows something about present or future circumstances that a character in the story does not know.

Edwin Arlington Robinson's Poem "Richard Cory" is about a man who lived in the neighborhood. He dressed like a young gentlemen from a little town. He was very friendly and greeted people nicely he was rich and they said richer than a king. " And he was rich--yes, richer than a king--
And admirably schooled in every grace: " They thought he was everything and they wanted to be like him. little do people now he was struggling and had problems on his own. Good-morning," and he glittered when he walked.The last line " And Richard Cory, one calm summer night,Went home and put a bullet through his head. " was shocking because who would've taught such a man like Cory who was rich , a nice personality and always smiled would kill himself ?
In the short story "Lamb to Slaugther " by Ronald Dahl the irony in this story is there are many innocent who are led by individuals to harm without knowing some continue to be led by the same person, and then by others. The police are eating the evidence and claims it under there nose little do they knowing that it really is and there eatting it for dinner so yeah it is ironic. "Personally, I think it's right here on the premises.

In the article " The House That Slaves Built "By Gardien Harris As Barack Obama and his family move into the presidential mansion, a look back at a 200-year-old house that has not always been so welcoming to blacks.Its ironic because slaves built the white house and they wouldn't allow blacks inside the house . " But now Barack Obama's family making the White House their home as powerful symbol of change for Americans of all races." The White House had been thrown open to the public to celebrate the President's second inaugural, but the guards turned Douglass away—apparently on standing orders that blacks were not to be allowed in. Douglass sent in his card, and Lincoln ordered him admitted.
In this article "Is it ironic that so many don't understand irony?" This short article do show interesting articles because it says that a man named his big dog tiny in which case why would i huge dog be named tiny that's awkward. it also shows " that I can't go to church because I have a theology test to study for? " 95 % of the people says its ironic well of course because why would we not go to Church if we are religious just for a test that you we have tomorrow ? Some of these statements they stated are confusing but we can get it because lots of people usually write and say weird types of things they mean.

Tattooed and pierced patient is ironically nervous about surgery. This cartoon is very ironic because she shouldnt be nervous about the surgery due to the fact of needles. Since she has tattoos and piercings. She is not afraid of needles according to the tatoos yet she shows fear for needles during the operation.

In Alanis Morissette's "Ironic." lyrics show are some points are ironic and some aren't i feel that that section :

unfortunate situations, but they are not typically what one would define as ironic. Ten thousand spoons when all we need is a knife in the employee break room of a factory… now that would be ironic. Also " An old man turned ninety-eight He won the lottery and died the next day " this could be ironic because he probally been playing for the lottery his whole life and wasting all his money and never won but come to find out the day he wins the lottery he dies the next day thats ackward and a type of irony.

Metaphors

Metaphors are the comparison of two unlike things. The word metaphor comes from the Greek word metapherin (meaning "transfer").The simplest form of metaphor [first thing] is a [second thing] perfering to this example Her home was a prison.
Example : John is a real pig when he eats.
What this sentence is trying to explain is that John is greedy he eats a lot.

Another metaphor simile is the comparison of two things using like or as. " These cookies taste like garbage. " [ Garbage is Dirty or nasty so the cookie probably taste bad and is very good as other cookies usually be or taste.] They fought like cats and dogs.[ Cats and dogs hate each other so the people probably disagree on something and fought horribly. ]
In the elephant cartoon it shows how 5 blind men observing an elephant and reflects of what they know For example "A elephant is Like a Empty Oil Pipeline " the blind men is observing the elephants nose and its drained out and empty so he compares it to the oil pipeline .
Another Metaphor is Hyperbole uses an exaggerated or extravagant statement to create a strong emotional response. Hyperbole is frequently used for humor.

Examples :

I'm So Hungry I Could Eat a Cow

He is as skinny as a toothpick .

That joke is so old, the last time I heard it I was riding on a dinosaur.

These examples show how the person is trying to be funny while expressing something this is one way it actually shows the way to prove it.The first example shows how someone is very hungry they can eat a cow because a cow is very big and has a lot of meat on it. Toothpicks are very thin so there describing the human being as being very skinny.

Another Metaphor , anthropomorphism is used with Gods or gods. It is also a form of personification. It is used in religions, literature and everyday as well. Usually people use animals to show this .For example, the use of plants, vegetables and fruit in conjunction with human characteristics is a common theme, often found in products for the kitchen.
A Parable is a short story that's designed to illustrate or teach some truth, religious ways, or moral lesson. For Example : "Parable of the Scorpion" The lesson of the parable is that a thing will always act in accordance with its true nature. A snake is a snake, a spider is a spider, a scorpion is a scorpion and a Democrat is a Democrat.
The word "fable" comes from the Latin "fabula" (a "story"), itself derived from "fari" ("to speak") with the -ula suffix that signifies "little": hence, a "little story". A fable is a succinct story, in prose or verse, that features animals, plants, inanimate objects, or forces of nature which are anthropomorphizing (given human qualities), and that illustrates a moral lesson

Example: The Boy Who Cried Wolf

In this fable A shepherd-boy, who watched a flock of sheep near a village, brought out the villagers three or four times by crying out, "Wolf! Wolf!" and when his neighbors came to help him, laughed at them for their pains. Then One day the wolf really came and attacked him no one believed him and helped. There is no believing a liar, even when he speaks the truth.

Analogy : is a similarity between like features of two things, on a comparison

Example:
Fire is to ice Cold.
Hot is to Cold.

These examples shows a way in which two things are comparing but in other words .
In the Poems "Joy", "Play" by:For You, A Star . She states "that first blade of grass,the messenger of spring". What the writer is trying to explain is that winter was ending and we started to see grass growing and that meant spring was here for good and winter was gone. Touch them with your finger tip - but there's the barrier of glass. This persons saying that we need to find another way to get to the other side because a barrier is like a fence.
In the personification poem " Natures Chorus "the author says that that cherry trees form a circle but trees can't move how could they form a circle ? The oaks dance just like debutantes an oak is a form of tree and a debutantes is a young women who has reached the age of maturity , and everyone knows they can't dance . The trees usually stay still and grow. Woodpeckers tapping on their trunks woodpeckers don have trunks they use they pointy noses to tap on trees . Listen to the sounds of natures chorus ! What fun it does arouse! This Poem shows how many things happen and how the use of personficatiton is used such as a n creature conceived or figured to represent a thing or abstraction.

The fable "The Goose with the Golden Eggs" Illustrated by Heather Olsen is about a countryman who works in a farm and in his farm he has a geese which is a type of bird and one day he seen a a Golden egg laying there and when he picked it up it was heavy and loaded like gold. He describes the egg by saying it was shiny yellow and glittering as gold this is a form of simile because he is using the word like and as. When he took it up it was as heavy as lead. Day by day he got richer and richer until open day he began to get greedy and wanted to get all the geese he wanted and when he finally opened the egg he found nothing. this was also a lesson learned .This Fable is also a form of parable because it teaches a lesson and illustrates more principles.

This poem is represented in a weird style of writing the letters aren't like the regular way we write things such as in sentences . The presentation is not as we see or use during everyday life. If we were to present these words as in present life it would probably come into a sentence and make more sense to us. Now using these letters into a statement l(aleaffalls)oneliness we can change it to loneliness (a leaf falls) . Loneliness is the root to sadness, he uses the word through a leaf falling to point out that the leaf is with others while alive and on the tree, when the leaf falls it dies showing with loneliness comes death(sadness).

What metaphor(s) fit your life? The metaphors that fits in my life according to Leonard Holmes is [ A Roller Coaster - Life consists of ups and downs, and we are along for the ride. ] I'm guessing probably life will have its ups and downs, but if you hold on tight, you'll have a great time. In life im faced with many challenges, and I can either let them make me or break me. I can get on this "roller coaster" and say I made it too the top and back down or I can walk away an hide.

During the time we have found different sources to find out information such as GOOGLE Yahoo and AOL. I recognize in the video that it shows someone using a computer blogging and cutting out words and pasting out it order to do essays. It says that the machine is us in other words it's saying that we control everything in the computer as it is today. Rethink means to revise and look over we have to rethink alot of things such as family school identity etc.

How is writing evolving?

Like everything else in life, practice makes perfect.through a lifestyle of writing that one becomes comfortable with. In different human civilizations, more complete writing systems have developed examples are Chinese writing,Mesoamerica,Modern writing. namely the computer and the mobile phone, characters can be formed by the press of a button, rather than making the physical motion with the hand.
Rethink school

When people are connected through technology and/or collaborative arrangements, their effect is multiplied, for communities "can accomplish goals that would be impossible through more isolated efforts.'" What there trying say is that now in schools the teachers now can use computers and certain ways to teach in school with all the new technology they built. They also state on how things get done faster. Now during our days we get plenty of handouts that come from the computers in which teachers print out instead of writing it out and handing it to over 100 of kids. Messages get through way quicker and easier to . classrooms isolated from other classrooms, teachers isolated from other teachers, schools isolated from the outside world,"

How does this video address idea of rethinking?

The video is an example of rethinking because as you see in the video its showing how people used things before. Such as black and white t vs old time antique mobile phones and etc. But at the end of the commercial it shows how we the people can have a Car that drives & is in color. When the two man first see it in the commercials they think its weird because they never seen something like this. Therefore now we have many diffrent possibilities to choose from
